okay but the thing that gets me about 10 things I hate about you was how much I identified with kat
like screw that john green revolutionary kissing shit, when was the last time you saw a social outcast female protagonist who’s also an athlete? so, athletic, sarcastic, feminist, “bitchy” (I’m less outwardly hostile I suppose but take my word for it I am judgmental and heaven knows I bitch frequently), wants to go to a small LAC (sarah lawrence and my college are actually known for drawing the same types of students and often those students end up having to choose between them, so), likes poetry and fem lit, would probably provocatively dance on top of a table if drunk, dances happily w friends when not drunk, revels in participating in counterculture but maybe should branch out, has a more mainstream younger sister, had a dumb fling w a boy in 9th grade (I didn’t have sex tho but it did last a month!!!!! wtf), likes pretty boys, intrigued by guys who quit smoking for you (this is actually one of my more niche fave tropes that I’ve only seen come up in fanfic before so I was like YOOO here), etc…..basically I felt so tuned in to kat’s frequency throughout 10 things and it was kind of weird actually
