Dean was never supposed to go to hell. Cas was only supposed to be in three episodes and fan interference kept him alive. Season 6 was supposed to turn us against Cas but the moment the writers touched Cas’ side of the story they realized he only did what he did for Dean. They tried to kill Cas off PERMANENTLY in season 7 and fan reaction was so intense they had to bring him back. All of season 8. In season 9 they accidentally set up a “I want to stay but I’m never asked” arc for Cas which PERFECTLY mirrored Dean’s “everybody leaves me” arc. They needed a stand in for Colette in season 10 and had to use Cas. Execs tried to fuck over canon destiel in the last two episodes and somehow the truth came out. They kept trying to separate Dean and Cas, over and over, but from the beginning the ONLY decisions Dean and Cas could make while remaining in character always came from this inexplicable devotion. Cas was always devoted to Dean, Dean was devoted to Cas. Cas. Cas. Cas. Cas. It was always Cas it was always Dean and Cas
